First Hospital in South India to win the performance Excellence Award 2008.
Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre, Madurai became the first Hospital in South India to bag the prestigious IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Performance Excellence Award in the Healthcare category for the year 2008. The award is considered to be the Indian version of the Malcom Baldrige Award, USA.
Credibility Alliance Certification:
A Consortium of voluntary organizations, "Credibility Alliance" conferred Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research centre with accreditation for Good Governance of Voluntary Organizations. The hospital is one among the 27 NGOs in India to receive this honor.
Social Responsibility Initiative of the year 2007
The successful journey all through the years of service symbolizes the excellence in medical care and clinical research, our commitment to achieve our mission - to serve the poor and needy through our innumerable charity services made our hospital receive Modern Medicare Award for “Social Responsibility Initiative of the year 2007” from GE for its comprehensive work in extending its exceptional service to the People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs).
Reward for DRI Services
In recognition of the timely medical services rendered to the people of Tamilnadu, Tamilnadu Social Welfare Board appreciated the services of Direct Relief International USA, and His Excellency Shri. Surjith Singh Barnala, Governor of Tamilnadu honored Mrs. Susan Fowler, Senior Programme Officer and her team-mates with the citation at Raj Bhavan, Chennai.
The Smile Train, USA
The Smile Train centre for Cleft lip/palate MMHRC has been well appreciated by The Smile Train-USA for mobilizing persons living with cleft lip/palate and providing more than 2000 quality corrective surgeries. Dr. S. Gurushankar, Vice Chairman was received at The Smile Train Central Office, New York, hosted lunch and awarded a citation.
State of Illinious, USA
In recognition humanitarian services rendered by MMHRC in treating the injuries and illness of the Tsunami victims free of cost, in collaboration with the Direct Relief International-USA, MMHRC was awarded a citation by Representative Susana A. Mendoza, State of Illinois vide House Resolution Number 668, Ninety Four General Assembly, House of Representatives-USA.
India Builds
'Habitat For Humanity International' launched a new programme to eradicate poverty of housing in India by building affordable safe houses. MMHRC has been included in this programme to build 1000 houses for the members of Mahasemam in another five years. In this programme, MMHRC was awarded for its commitment for eradicating poverty of housing in India. Honorable Mr. Kapil Sibal, Ministry of science and Technology, Government of India honoured MMHRC for its valuable humanitarian services.
Cleft lip/ Palate free districts
In collaboration with the district authorities of Tirunelveli and Tuticorin, and the grant support of The Smile Train USA, MMHRC facilitated the districts free from Cleft lip/Palate problems and received citation from the respective collectors
