Terms of Reference
1. The committee is a public committee that meets once a month to produce an accurate list of underprivileged children who are in need of Open Heart Surgery at Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre, Madurai.
2. The committee analyses and evaluates the economic condition of the parents using various sources, including interviews with the parents and children, government records of revenue and property of the parents, and records of other sources of income.
3. The committee focuses on identifying genuinely underprivileged children who should not be neglected for surgery at any cost.
4. The committee authorizes and submits the final list of children who are to receive open heart surgery to the Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre, Madurai.
5. The committee's mission is to serve the underprivileged community with a humanitarian, service-minded attitude and without bias or monetary gain.
Purpose
The ultimate aim of the Screening Committee’s process is to ensure honesty in selection, accuracy in evaluation and consistency in final list of underprivileged children who are recommended for Open Heart Surgery.
