As we reflect on our 16th year of service, we are proud to highlight the significant growth and community partnership that continue to establish Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre as a premier, regional health care provider and marked as a milestone once again as one among the Top 10 hospitals for the overall performance in quality patient care services. With utmost pride and confidence, I would like to present the annual report of the year 2005-2006.

MMHRC’s broad array of highly qualified physicians provide all speciality and super speciality medical services. The exceptional performance of medical staff and employees leads to quality outcomes for Meenakshi patients, resulting in recognition and continuous accreditation by ISO. To continue this tradition of excellent services, Direct Relief International USA has awarded a citation to MMHRC by Ms. Susana .A. Mendoza, House of Representatives, State of the Illinois, USA. vide house resolution number 668 of Ninety four general assembly, for treating the injuries and illnesses of Tsunami victims.

Over and above the excellence in medical care and clinical research, we have our social commitment to serve poor and needy. To achieve this objective we collaborated with The Smile Train, USA and performed more than 2000 quality corrective surgeries for cleft lip/palate free of cost. In recognition of the services The Smile Train USA has awarded a citation to Dr. S. Gurushankar, Vice Chairman, in a function held at the head office in New York.

Most importantly, Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre embraces a clearly articulated set of values that guide and set the tone throughout the entire organization. Basic beliefs of acting with human dignity, compassion, justice, excellence and stewardship have been guiding principles for over 15 years. These accolades are reflected throughout the organization and embarking on the development of D-Wing at MMHRC to make outstanding medical care easily accessible, particular in expanding the patient services in the years to come.

Our strategies are led and supported by Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Center's Board of trustees, which has a longstanding tradition of outstanding leadership. Their guidance on measures such as quality, safety and excellence are reflected in our daily activities. This annual report examines and highlights the many contribution and support of His Excellency Shri Surjith Singh Barnala, and the Counsel General His Highness David T. Hopper, District Collectors, our donors, well wishers,volunteers, NGOs. Media persons, national and international donor agencies, government officials as we work together to uphold the mission of Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre.

This year is an eventual year for MMHRC, for being recognized to implement advanced diagnostic procedures and specialist medical consultancy from international renowned medical experts, application specialist and IT experts to patients even in remote areas of Tamilnadu, we were donated Mobile CT Imaging Unit along with Navistar Tractor Unit from Direct Relief International USA. We are very much indebted to and thank Mr. Thomas Tighe, President and CEO, Mrs. Susan Fowler- Senior Programme Officer of Direct Relief International and their officials and late Mr. Joel Willard.
