Haematology & Blood Bank(Regional Blood Transfusion Centre)

Blood Is a life saving drug. Unfortunately it cannot be manufactured. Man has to donate this to save somebody’s life. The regional blood transfusion centre at MMHRC is using State- of the Art facilities to keep sufficient blood in stock to help the needy not only at MMHRC but also to save the life of any patients admitted in any hospital. The Blood Bank has the facility to store blood components like packed red cells, Fresh Frozen Plasma and platelets besides whole blood and issue these to various patients as per their specific needs..

World blood donors day is observed every year on October 1st to recognize, appreciate and felicitate various blood donor organizations, colleges and Red Cross society. Round the clock service is provided to save the precious life.

Haemophilia Society

The Madurai Chapter of haemophilia society attached to our hospital is providing comprehensive healthcare to the PWH (people with haemophilia) under the leadership of our Haematologist Dr.P.Krishnamoorthi. April 17th of every year is observed as World haemophilia day .The society provides factor replacement (Factor VIII & Factor IX), health education, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation. Around 70 PWH are members of this society, at present.
