I need to receive treatment at MMHRC. Where should I begin?
If this is your first visit our hospital, please visit the reception area and our service staff will explain the procedures in detail with you. They will make a hospital identity card which will help us keep track of your medical records each time you visit us.[Top]


What are the outpatient timings?
Normal outpatient services are offered between 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM every day of the week. In case you come outside these hours, we will accommodate you. Emergencies are handled around the clock.[Top]


What is the cost of registration and treatment?
First time patients pay Rs. 100 – Rs. 200 registration fee, and this fee covers outpatient treatment for a period of 15 days. The actual cost for treatment starts from Rs. 250 onwards.[Top]

I am admitted to the hospital; where will my attendees / relations stay?
Your attendee is allowed to stay with you during your stay. Only when the patient is in the intensive care unit (ICU), no attendee is allowed to stay bed side because of the risk of infection, but they are permitted to be seen at particular times scheduled by the hospital. Below, are the ICU timings, but in an emergency, you will be allowed at any time. Visitors’ timings in ICU: Morning: 11AM – 1PM Afternoon: 3PM–6PM.


I am not able to afford treatment; can I qualify for free treatment?
There are some treatments provided free of cost for cleft lip/palate, HIV, and palliative care. The hospital, in some cases, may provide free or discounted treatment for extremely poor patients. Please talk to our Patient Relations Office and speak in person with a manager.


Can I book a room in advance for inpatient admission?
We do not book rooms in advance because we want to ensure everybody arriving at the hospital is able to get a room. However, we will find you a room of your choice when you arrive at the hospital.


What languages are spoken at the hospital?
Tamil, English, Hindi, Urdu, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali, and if necessary, we have staff who speak another dozen languages.


What type of treatments do you provide?
We are a multi-specialty hospital and are therefore able to take care of all your medical needs, from simple outpatient procedures to complicated procedures, such as knee joint replacements, bypass and renal transplantations. For more details, please visit the main page and click on "Expertise"


I want to get health status of my relative who has been admitted in the hospital, who do I contact?

If I loose my hospital identity card, what should I do?
When you come for your next treatment, please notify us that you lost your card and we will replace it with a new one at free of cost.

Who can I contact to get my discharge summary?
You can get it through the ward secretary of concern ward at the time of the discharge.[Top]


Will you share my medical records with any one? Will you give a copy of medical records to one of my relatives?
Your medical records are strictly confidential and we will share only your discharge summary at the request of a referring physician. For different purposes at work or school, we can give you a “discharge summary” or a “doctor’s certificate”. In exceptional cases, such as a legal case, the medical records may be shared at the request of a court of law and the approval of the Medical Records Manager.[Top]


Payment and Billing:

I wish to pay by credit card. What credit cards are accepted?
Visa and MasterCard are accepted in the hospital. ATM cards with a Visa or MasterCard logo are accepted. At this time we do not accept American Express and Discover.[Top]

When you arrive at the hospital, please let us know you have an insurance card and our service staff will attempt to get your medical treatment paid by the insurance company so you can receive “cashless” treatment. Occasionally, your insurance may require you to pay us the charges up front, and you will be reimbursed later. We will advise you accordingly. Information for DNB & CRRI (internships) at the MMHRC

What residency programs are available at MMHRC and how many seats are available?

MMHRC is on the list of hospitals approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) for the purposes of Compulsory Rotating Internship Training (CRRI), Post Graduate (PG), and Specialty PG courses. At the end of the program, a Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) degree will be granted to candidates who fulfill all the training requirements and exams of the course.

We are in the process of getting approval for five new courses and expect to offer them for the period beginning January, 2008. The offerings will include Paediatrics, Cardiology, Neurology, Cardio Thoracic Surgery and Neurosurgery.

What are the admission requirements for the programs?
All candidates must have successfully completed the MBBS recognized by the MCI and completed one year of internship. Students wishing to enter the residency program will be interviewed by a member of our academic recruitment team. With the exception of students entering the Paediatrics Department, all students must have cleared the Primary Examination of Board. Interested candidates can request an application form from our Human Potential Department (HPD) listed below, and submit their applications. We require candidates to complete the application form and submit the supporting documents.

When do the programs begin and what are the admission deadlines?
Residents can begin their program in January and June each year. The next class begins from January, 2008. MMHRC will advertise the open positions later this year. [Top]


How many PGs are being trained in MMHRC?

How much does the program cost and how long is it?
The PG courses in the MMHRC are three years. In adherence to the guidelines set by the MCI, students pay an annual of Rs. 50,000 each year. [Top]


Do medical residents get a stipend or allowance in the program?
As recommended by the National Board of Examinations, medical residents get a monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000 the first year, Rs. 11,000 for the second year, and Rs. 12,000 for the final year. Superspeciality PGs get an allowance of Rs. 14,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 16,000 for first, second and third years. [Top]


Does the institute provide hostelling and canteen facilities?
The hospital provides free bachelor hostelling. We have several restaurants in the hospital providing meals at a subsidized cost for our medical residents and interns.[Top]

  • For B.Sc. / B.B.A. courses, students are admitted purely on merit considering the past academic records on “First Come First” basis. Application can be obtained in person from the Principal by paying application and University registration fee of Rs.135/-. Applicants need to submit their original certificates (10th and +2 Statement of Marks, Transfer, Conduct and Community Certificates), 2 sets of photocopies of their certificates, and 3 passport size photos along with the completed application.
  • For the fulltime PG Diploma Courses in Management, students are admitted purely on merit considering the past academic records on “First Come First” basis. Application can be obtained in person from the Principal by paying application fee of Rs.200/-. Applicants need to submit their original certificates (10th, +2, Degree Statement of Marks, Provisional / Convocation, Transfer / Migration, Conduct, and Community Certificates), 2 sets of photocopies of their certificates, and 3 passport size photos along with the completed application.
  • M.B.A. (Hospital Administration) is offered by the Department of Management Studies, MKU in collaboration with the Hospital. Usually advertisement is released in leading dailies by the University in Jan / Feb. Students are admitted purely on merit considering the past academic records, and their performance in GMAT type entrance examinations, followed by group discussion and interview. Application fee is Rs.600/-. Applicants need to submit attested photocopy of their original certificates (10th, +2, Degree Statement of Marks, Provisional / Convocation, Transfer / Migration, Conduct, and Community Certificates) along with the completed application.
  • PG Diploma Courses in Health Sciences are offered by the Directorate of Distance Education, MKU in collaboration with the Hospital. Usually advertisement is released in leading dailies by the University twice in a year enabling admission for academic year (July – June) as well as calendar year (Jan – Dec). Students are admitted, twice in a year, purely on merit considering the past academic records. Application fee is Rs.100/-. Is there hostel / accommodation facility for outstation students?

  • Separate hostel facilities are available for men and women students.
  • There are limited numbers of shared accommodation in Students Hostel. Admission to hostel is by first come first basis. The students may approach the Warden of the respective hostels after securing admission. Application forms will be available in their respective hostels during office hours from 09.30 a.m. to 04.30 p.m.
  • Hostel fee is Rs.4,000 per annum for UG students & Rs. 6,000 per annum for PG Students. [Top]
