Department Of Haematology and Clinical Pathology

To aid the Laboratory Investigations, the hospital is equipped with advanced and sophisticated instruments. The department of diagnostic Lab services is winged with Haematology, Clinical Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Histopathology sections. Haematology and Clinical pathology sections are equipped with BECKMAN COULTER CELL COUNTER 5PART AND 3PART to carry out Haemogram in just 60 sec’s and special test such as PT, APTT, Coagulation Profile, Haemolytic work-up, FDP, OFT, Factor VIII and IX assay etc., Also Haematology Department takes Part in [EQAS] External Quality Assessment Scheme conducted by CMC Vellore.

The department of Diagnostic Laboratories carried out nearly 5.0 lakhs tests every year.

Department of Microbiology

The Department aims and activities include (a) Microscopy, (b) culture, identification susceptibility testing of clinical specimen (c) Serology by Rapid tests and ELISA with an Automated ELISA Reader. (d) Western Blot Assay for HIV confirmation (e) Microbial Surveillance of operation theatres and various hospital areas (f) Monitoring Hospital acquired Infections [g] Monitoring sterilization and Disinfections activities. This year the department performed about 6100 cultures, 24,916 serology, 1979 microscopy,

54 Western Blots, 891 AFB slides for National TB control programme, 267 Arthritis profile for Ortho camps, 58 Throat swab culture for Cleft camps.

Department of Biochemistry

Biochemistry department is processing around six hundred estimation of different Biochemical parameters per day. This included routine biochemical estimation as well as special biochemical analysis. Glycosylated Haemoglobin [HbA1C] by Immuno Turbidometric method, BHCG, Alpha Feta Protein, Stone Analysis, Electrophoresis, etc., are some of the special biochemical tests. The workload of the department is 2,92,156 tests. 98% of workload is automated and we have sophisticated SYNCHRON CX5 DELTA Manufactured by BECKMAN COULTER [USA] in place for Biochemical Analysis. We are planning automation of tumour markers and special protein estimation in near future. Our hospital participated in External Quality Assessment Scheme organized by CMC, Vellore and BIORAD EQAS every month.
